Maryland’s food pricing law takes effect

Maryland’s Protection From Predatory Pricing Act took effect on October 1, 2026. Large food retailers and third-party delivery services can no longer use personal data or dynamic pricing to charge a shopper more for tax-exempt food.

Promotions, loyalty pricing and retention offers remain allowed. Enforcement starts with a 45-day cure period after notice from the Attorney General.
