Last verified Oct 14, 2026 · Oct 5, 2026 · PricingLaws editors · Not legal advice

Mayor Katie Wilson signed Seattle’s Fair Pricing and Transparency Ordinance on October 5, 2026, after the City Council passed it 7–2. From September 1, 2027, large grocers and grocery delivery services may not set prices using personal data.

Group discounts and loyalty tiers based only on purchase history remain allowed, but businesses must disclose the tiers and the criteria for each, keep pricing and segmentation records for three years, and can face a presumption of violation if records are missing. Consumers can sue.
